Set in an imaginary African country, this scathing satirical novel explores politics via a cast of barnyard animal characters who represent the ruling class, the military, cabinet ministers and the common people. A fictional account of the 2017 Zimbabwean coup d’état that eventually resulted in the resignation and removal of President Robert Mugabe, it demonstrates Bulawayo’s brilliant ability to capture each of these varied voices.
