Beata Umubyeyi Mairesse was born in Butare, Rwanda and moved to France to study political science and work for humanitarian causes after surviving the 1994 Tutsi genocide. Her debut novel All Your Children, Scattered follows three generations torn apart by the genocide against the Tutsis, as they try to reconnect with one another, rebuild broken relationships, and find their place in today’s world. An intimate look at the inner lives of the people who lived through one of the world’s worst atrocities of the 20th century.
