The charming Zizah Does Things Differently by Paul Okeugo and Esther Sule-Okeugu helps its readers understand what it’s like to be a child with autism. A kind and thoughtful autistic child sees the world a little differently, in a beautiful story about kindness, understanding and being yourself. It’s part of Nigeria’s Bookstorm “Make-a-Picturebook” initiative – created with Mimaster Illustrazione and 16 Nigerian illustrators, each of whom designed a picture book based on this story. There’s a dearth of books by Africans, focused on African stories, for younger children – which is why we’re delighted to see this one.
