An ‘audience choir’ ‘opera’ conducted by Tshego Moeng, breakaway book-chat groups, author talks, a theatre reading, a panel about the African Imaginary, and a long dinner table of 60 African literature lovers. To borrow from the words of Bibi Bukare-Yusuf, attendee and founder of Nigeria’s Cassava Press, we exist as “a space of listening and exchange, reminding us that literature is never created in isolation, even if it often feels that way to the solitary writer.” Thanks to all who were part of this communal endeavour, in particular our collaborators and authors: Ashanti Kunene, Bibi Bukare-Yusuf @bibibakareyusuf, Bongani Kona, Goretti Kyomuhendo, Hedley Twidle @h_tidal80, Jemma Khan, Khaya Dlanga @khayadlanga, Open Book Festival @openbookfest, Popina Khumanda @popina_khumanda, Pumla Dineo Gqola @feminist_rogue, Rémy Ngamije @remythequill, Sarah Bullen @sarahbullenwritingroom, Siphokazi Jonas @siphokazi_j, Sven Axelrad @svenaxelrad, Tsitsi Dangarembga @tsitsidangarembga, Vusumzi Ngxande, Zara Julius @zarathustra_lives.
