Msaki is best-known as an award-winning singer-songwriter from South Africa. She’s the ultimate collaborator – with big names like Diplo, Black Coffee and Ry X, and with artists she admires like Sun-EL Musician, Carlo Mombelli, Nduduzo Makhathini, Simmy and Ami Faku and Kabza De Small. She supports the careers of independent artists through her collective ALTBLK>>Continua. As a writer and facilitator, she is sought after for writing camps around the world. She’s also a visual artist and a music industry activist. ‘Fetch Your Life’, from her HUGE anthem with Prince Kaybee, is the message Msaki lives by and tells us to do the same.
Msaki takes her place in the African imaginary, which she describes as a circular, communal intelligence. In deep conversation with host Khangi Khoza, she reflects on her ancestral energies, salutes her icons, talks sport, dissects the music industry, and lets us into her creative process.
