Love Stories for Ghosts is a beautifully made book, published by the well-known Karavan Press, and all of the short stories it contains are about death – but each one also has a surprising line of hope or playfulness that runs through it. More than anything, author Alex Latimer creates a beautiful mood through his writing. It’s a little sombre, a little whimsical, always gentle, and it is a great pleasure to sink into these stories. In the end, I was unable to pick my favourite. I narrowed it down to three: “The Collection”, “YOLO” and “Death and Robot”. Asked to do the same, every reader will probably have their own three, and we’ll all be right.
